Overdue Prevention

Selecting Overdue Prevention displays the page listing patients that should be counseled on prevention issues.  The prevention parameters are set up for each age group and triggered by a patient’s birthday.  A discussion of not smoking would be appropriate for a child approached adolescence whereas an older patient would be reminded of the important of a colonoscopy, for example.

Reminder

Selecting Reminder from the Home page shows a list of patients for whom reminders have been initiated.   As with other similar pages, the dropdown menu gives you a choice of My Patients Reminder or All Patients Reminder.

The lower left corner of the Reminder page shows how to mark items:  Notified with a single click will remove the entry; Not Notified with a double click will also remove the entry.

Personalize the Software

There are several options for personalizing the software for a clinic or a provider.

Set Physical Exam Defaults

The Set Physical Exam Defaults feature allows a user to customize their PE page to pre-select the most common choices for their practice.

    • Clicking on the Set Physical Exam Defaults takes you to a page that is similar to the PE page.
    • Click the arrow next to the Exam type to show default normals for that exam area.
    • On the upper right side, you can select normals for Male or Female or Gender Neutral as well as specifying the Age range for the normals selected.
    • Select the settings from the lower panel that should show as the normals on the PE page in Docpad.  (You won't see these as normals for that Exam type until you exit this page and return.)
    • Once all the exam types are completed, click Done to save changes.
    • Click Done to return to the Home page.

Now navigating to the PE page will have the selected normals indicated without further effort by the provider.

Set Procedures Defaults

  • Clicking on this choice takes you to a page that appears similar to the Procedure tab under PE.
  • Select a procedure for which you want to set defaults.   You can also select different defaults for Male and Female patients by clicking the Male/Female button at the top.  Or select appropriate age ranges. (There are more details on setting procedure defaults in the Procedure section.)
  • Select the findings that you wish to show for this procedure.
  • Repeat for any annotations and procedure coding.
  • Once all items are completed, click Done to save changes.
  • Click Done on the Procedure page to return to the Personalize Software page.
  • Click Done to return to the Home page.

Set MDM Defaults

  • Clicking on this choice takes you to a page that appears similar to the Dx page.
  • Select the Dx for which you want to set defaults.  The example below shows defaults for Bronchitis, not specified as acute or chronic.
  • Select the settings that you wish to show as the defaults on the Dx page in Docpad.  You can also include comments that apply to most patients with this complaint.  When the preset choices don’t apply, they can be overridden during the encounter.
  • Once all the Dxs are completed, click Done to save changes.
  • Click Done to return to the Home page.

  • Set medical search to automatic on CC, Dx, Rx, and Orders pages – Yes or No – When medical search is set to automatic, choices will be listed as you type in the Search box.  When it is set to No, you must click the Search button at the far right of the screen to initiate the search.  While automatically searching is more convenient, it can also slow down some systems.

Preferences

Preferences is the same as the Signature option under Personalize the Software.

Patient Summary

The Patient Summary is a means for downloading patient information.
