Docpad Home Page

Docpad Home Page

Docpad is the focus of the suite of Radekal modules, giving the provider a comprehensive method for processing patients through clinical encounters.  The Home page gives quick access to the many functions available in Docpad.  Provider Tasks and Review are used most often.  Communication provides easy connection to several external processes.  References is an efficient means to look up needed medical information without leaving the application.   Each of these sections and the items below them will be explained in detail.

    • Select Patient shows the schedule page for patient selection from the schedule or from all patients.
    • Incomplete Notes shows the number of incomplete notes and will show the list when clicked.
    • Patient Chart functions just like Select Patient.
    • Tests to Review shows the number of tests scanned or entered that need to be reviewed and fixed.
    • New Documents shows the number of scanned documents to be reviewed and filed.
    • Scheduled Orders/Procedures shows the number of scheduled orders and procedures.
    • Overdue Prevention lists patients with immunization and prevention issues to be addressed.
    • Reminder shows the number of reminders for this user and will show the list when clicked.

    • Refill Medications – shows the messages received regarding prescription refills.
    • Preferences – allows the user to set some preferences for functionality.
    • Patient Summary – provides a mean to download a patient’s record.

 Schedule Page

  • Click on the Schedule box at the top right side of the banner to get to My ScheduleSelect Patient under Provider Tasks also takes you to this page.
  • My Schedule shows a list of patients with scheduled appointments for this provider or walk-in patients that have been added to the schedule.  The schedule information comes from the Practice Management system.
  • To select the patient, click on the patient's name to open a patient encounter note.

    • The drop down window has several choices.
      • My Schedule shows the schedule for this individual provider with the time, patient’s name, date of birth and status (i.e., Room).
      • All Schedules is the schedule for all providers in the clinic. It enables the provider to select a patient from another provider.
      • Schedule for Specific Provider enables the user to view the schedule of a specific provider.
      • Alpha search by last name to access a patient’s chart is the following areas:
      • My Patients is the link to access the provider’s data base of patients.
      • All Patients is the link to all the patients in the clinic.
      • My Patients and All Patients are comparable but for any patient, not just ones scheduled for today.

Note: A search can also be narrowed by using the patient’s first name. Simply type a comma before the name. Don’t put a space after the comma.

Example:         smith,samantha

,samantha  (this will search by only the first name, samantha)

Incomplete Notes

  • Incomplete Notes page contains a list of patients whose notes have not been signed. This list includes note type, date of visit, subject, and provider identification.
  • Unreviewed tab contains other notes and documents that need to be reviewed by the doctor.

Patient Chart

Patient Chart goes to the Schedule page just like Select Patient or the Schedules button.

Tests to Review

  • Resulted tests will be listed under the patient’s name and will show the status of the test.
  • Not Filed lists test results that need to be filed.
  • Pending tests are listed under the Pending tab.

  • Results Filter enables the provider to view My Results, All Results or a specific provider's result.

New Documents

  • Unreviewed documents can also be accessed through New Documents on the Home page.  The Filter can show either My Documents or All Documents.

Scheduled Orders/Procedures

    • All and Surgeries/Proc tabs show all the Scheduled Orders or Procedures or only Surgeries/Proc.
    • Orders can be selected using the filter Show on the right side of the heading to select an appropriate time period, past, current or future.
    • User can show orders and procedures for one provider or for all of them by using the filter labeled Provider.
    • Priority orders can be marked by using the Stat exclamation point (!)
    • Past orders are shaded a different color from the current or future orders.
    • Orders will only stay on the Scheduled Orders/Procedures page for 2 months. After that time they will be deleted.
    • Mark orders as priority by using the Stat exclamation point (!)
Provider can change the view information for All Providers or for a specific provider.
Recurrent orders display two green arrows next to a number under the Orders column.

Overdue Prevention

Selecting Overdue Prevention displays the page listing patients that should be counseled on prevention issues.  The prevention parameters are set up for each age group and triggered by a patient’s birthday.  A discussion of not smoking would be appropriate for a child approached adolescence whereas an older patient would be reminded of the important of a colonoscopy, for example.

Selecting Reminder from the Home page shows a list of patients for whom reminders have been initiated.   As with other similar pages, the dropdown menu gives you a choice of My Patients Reminder or All Patients Reminder.

The lower left corner of the Reminder page shows how to mark items:  Notified with a single click will remove the entry; Not Notified with a double click will also remove the entry.

Personalize the Software

There are several options for personalizing the software for a clinic or a provider.

Set Physical Exam Defaults

The Set Physical Exam Defaults feature allows a user to customize their PE page to pre-select the most common choices for their practice.

    • Clicking on the Set Physical Exam Defaults takes you to a page that is similar to the PE page.
    • Click the arrow next to the Exam type to show default normals for that exam area.
    • On the upper right side, you can select normals for Male or Female or Gender Neutral as well as specifying the Age range for the normals selected.
    • Select the settings from the lower panel that should show as the normals on the PE page in Docpad.  (You won't see these as normals for that Exam type until you exit this page and return.)
    • Once all the exam types are completed, click Done to save changes.
    • Click Done to return to the Home page.

Now navigating to the PE page will have the selected normals indicated without further effort by the provider.

Set Procedures Defaults

  • Clicking on this choice takes you to a page that appears similar to the Procedure tab under PE.
  • Select a procedure for which you want to set defaults.   You can also select different defaults for Male and Female patients by clicking the Male/Female button at the top.  Or select appropriate age ranges. (There are more details on setting procedure defaults in the Procedure section.)
  • Select the findings that you wish to show for this procedure.
  • Repeat for any annotations and procedure coding.
  • Once all items are completed, click Done to save changes.
  • Click Done on the Procedure page to return to the Personalize Software page.
  • Click Done to return to the Home page.

Set MDM Defaults

  • Clicking on this choice takes you to a page that appears similar to the Dx page.
  • Select the Dx for which you want to set defaults.  The example below shows defaults for Bronchitis, not specified as acute or chronic.
  • Select the settings that you wish to show as the defaults on the Dx page in Docpad.  You can also include comments that apply to most patients with this complaint.  When the preset choices don’t apply, they can be overridden during the encounter.
  • Once all the Dxs are completed, click Done to save changes.
  • Click Done to return to the Home page.

  • Set medical search to automatic on CC, Dx, Rx, and Orders pages – Yes or No – When medical search is set to automatic, choices will be listed as you type in the Search box.  When it is set to No, you must click the Search button at the far right of the screen to initiate the search.  While automatically searching is more convenient, it can also slow down some systems.

Preferences is the same as the Signature option under Personalize the Software.
